On the 1st August 2008 a range of key community, industry and union stakeholders attended the Community Infrastructure Summit sponsored by the South Coast Labour Council. The presentations and ensuing discussion regarding infrastructure priorities were productive in terms of moving our region forward in this important area of policy and regional development.

Below tabled is a range of key infrastructure priorities that were noted at this meeting as well as other outcomes.

• VFT (Fast Rail) State/Fed Fed (with Second Airport)
• Princes Hwy (South) State/Fed State/Fed
• Picton Road State/Fed State/Fed

• Dapto Transport State/Local State/local
• CBD Transport State/Local State/Local
• Utilities-water etc State State
• ICT (Info/Com) Fed Fed
• Airports Fed Fed
• Existing Rail Line State State

Mauldon-Dombarton a clear community priority for Infrastructure Australia funding.

Port Expansion identified and supported as a key economic driver for the region and project in its own right (subject to environmental/planning assessment)

Other projects should also be submitted to Infrastructure Australia if they meet criteria.

Support given to the regrouping of stakeholders to pursue other regional priorities with other levels of Government as well.

Outcomes from these proceedings to be forwarded to the meeting of stakeholders called by the IACC on the 12 August to determine the region’s position on transport infrastructure priorities.
