WIN STADIUM
National Day of Union & Community Action


A 7000 plus attendance at the Win Stadium in Wollongong was part of a nationwide protest against the Howard Governments Industrial Relations changes. ACTU leaders spoke at hundreds of venues around the nation via the Sky Channel Network. In Wollongong the broadcast was concluded with a march to the office of Liberal Senator Concetta F.W. as a show of unity and to emphasize that the fight on WorkChoice changes will be determined at the ballot box.

Sydney Gong Bike Ride 2006


The annual Sydney to Wollongong bike ride was a wet event this year but raised vital funds to support those Australians living with multiple sclerosis.
This year Unions NSW registered the 'Your Rights at Work Worth Riding For' team providing team members with free Your Rights at Work t-shirts. The SCLC had set up a campaign stall and provided refreshments at the finish line and the Your Rights at Work Bus was also at the line to transport the weary cyclists back to Sydney.

Illawarra Workers - National Day Of Protest


Thousands rallied in the Wollongong CBD to protest the Federal Government’s new IR laws, as part of the nation wide day of protest.
The crowd estimated in excess of 7000 had greatly surpassed the expectations of the rally organisers. Firefighters, Nurses, Teachers and Steel Workers were among those concerned about the eroding of conditions in the work place.

TWU Lands First Punch Against New Workplace Laws


The announcement made today by Federal Workplace Relations Minister Kevin Andrews, that the Federal Government’s Independent Contractors Act will protect NSW Owner drivers, is the result of transport workers and their families fighting for 30 years for NSW state industrial law to be protected.

The Shoalhaven May Day event brought together the Mayor,Community Leaders and families at Harry Sawkins Park, Nowra. Unions Shoalhaven have also used this event to voice opposition to the Federal Government changes to industrial relations laws.
